Starfish in the Park
Acoustic music festival

On Saturday 18th July the Starfish youth music project celebrates 5 years of the ‘Starfish in the Park’ acoustic music festival at the Paddock Field, Lewes.
Sam Walker, Ruby Rose, Guy McQueen & Chippy Mobbs will be amongst the 20 acts performing on the day. One of the country’s leading Graffiti artists Tom Goulden will be among the many workshops which include Samba, circus skills, chalk art, and can can. There will also be dance displays, face painting, youth information stalls and refreshments

Starfish co-ordinator Steve Franklin said ‘The idea for the event came from former chairperson Alison Harvey who wanted to put a free music concert for young people in Lewes and 5 years later the event is still going. We are very grateful to the local business community that helped sponsor the event. We hope that families will come down with their picnics and enjoy a wonderful day’.

February Holiday – Monday 15 February to Friday 19 February
Feb 19th – 20th Underpass projectThe underpass walkway at Collingwood Estate (Peacehaven) is being given a facelift by a local artist and young people from the estate. Starfish will be working with some of the young people to compose a soundscape by sampling sounds created in the walkway. The soundscape will be used as a soundtrack to a film showing the underpass being revamped. In addition we will be recording a vocal group that have composed a song inspired by the underpass.

Feb 16-22
Soundwave audio arts festival
Starfish workers to supervise workshops from external practitioners, Starfish to provide workshops for sound engineering, sound to film workshops, guitar and drum workshops. Starfish to record live sets (for Soundwave fm) with young bands from Peacehaven and Newhaven.

Soundwave Live radio show
Starfish to provide bands and presenters for ‘Soundwave fm’ - a 72-hour licensed radio station.

21st February Starfish returns
Starfish sessions restart 21st Feb

Feb 25th
Members meeting and AGM Starfish members meet to discuss future plans and share views on the project. This is followed by the AGM, which will include the election of officers and annual reports from the Chair, Treasurer and coordinators.

Saturday 29th November is the date for the junior Christmas party. Please invite your family and friends. The afternoon will be a mixture of live music from the junior bands and musical games including the now legendary limbo.
