Starfish Starfest 2006
The Las Vegas Mermaids top the bill of a fundraising concert for a local music project. The Lewes based cabaret invite the audience to follow Max von Weiners (The Las Vegas Mermaids Evil manager) chaotic journey to settle his gambling debts, hindered all the way by his estranged wife Sharline. En route they find themselves in bizarre often contentious worlds and dilemmas which The Las Vegas Mermaids explore using unashamed character performance, film projections, experimental dance, a magnificent array of props and costume coupled with live stage changes, emotive live music and encouraged audience involvement.
Also appearing on the night are are the up and coming ‘Superlungs’ playing a fusion of blues/rock, ex Starfish band Osmosis and the one and only DJ Elemental.
The Starfest has been running for three years and gives the opportunity for ex member to organise a fundraising concert for ‘Starfish’ the Lewes based youth music project. This year the event is being organised by ex Starfish member Sam Salter and his band Osmosis. ‘I was a member of Starfish for almost 5 years and it’s great to put something back into a fantastic project’.
The concert takes place on Friday 25th August and tickets are £3.00 on the door.
